What a fantastic opportunity here for an entrepreneurial dealer or for the vintage collector who has been interested but never wanted to start collecting Bee Hives because there were so many to chase down! Years and years of collecting went into this sensational ensemble of the forever-popular pictures, with the St. Lawrence Starch Company's mail-in promotion beginning in 1934 and continuing for over three decades, finally ending in 1967. Some of the delectable details are as follows: There are 275+ Group I photos from the 1934-to-1943 time frame, including dozens of the tougher-to-find examples. Highlights are led by the Brooklyn Americans' Hazen McAndrew, with the photo having been re-glued to a beige backing. Fellow Americans Watson, Rayner, Shields and Thurier are also present. Marty Barry as a Montreal Canadien, as well as Howie Morenz, Rocket Richard and Earl Robinson lead the Habs' entries, while Boston toughies include Boyd, Gallinger and Jack Schmidt. Elusive Black Hawks tracked down by our consignor include Brydson, Johnston, Matte, Papike and Purpur, with two different Bucko MacDonald photos among the Red Wings' contingent. Montreal Maroons include Carson, Kaminsky, MacKenzie, Runge and Shannon, while desirable Rangers are Franks, Garrett, Henry vertical and Myles. Coveted Maple Leafs include Boothman, Dickens, Forsey, Goldham, Hill, Mann, Poile, Pratt and both Stewart variations. Foster Hewitt, Wes McKnight and (9) of the trophies are also noteworthy. Condition varies throughout with specific details available upon request, along with an excel document listing every single photo in the collection, housed in eight binders! Group 2 photos (available from 1944 to 1964) total a whopping 460+ and include more scarcities. Notable Bruins are "Johnny" Pierson and Sawchuk. Hull (#9) and Rollins vertical (Chicago), Poile (Detroit), Berenson black script (Montreal) and Paille (Rangers) standout among Group 2 pics, with the Leafs section highlighted by Armstrong light background, Bionda, Hurst, the Metz brothers and Reid. Five trophies with white borders are also to mention. Finally, Group 3 photos number over 180, with highlights including Bruins Connelly, Gendron and Hebenton, Black Hawks Hillman, Nesterenko light background, Pilote home jersey and Stanfield, Red Wings Joyal reverse negative and two different Floyd Smiths, Rangers Henry and Labossiere (both fillers) and Maple Leafs Mahovlich, Pulford and Stewart (all with numbers). All eight Group 3 trophies are present. Phew! That's only the biggies. There are dozens and dozens of photos of "intermediate" scarcity and hundreds of others. Again, condition varies and a complete list of the remarkable labour of love is available upon request.
