Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Scarce durene style worn by a member of the expansion-era Pittsburgh Penguins at some point during the late 1960s to very early 70s. Terrific tie-neck version has the circular chain-stitched front skating penguin crest, which appears to have been replaced as the outline of a larger crest is clearly visible. A number of players wore the number 15 during the period of 1967-68 to 1971-72 including Bob Dillabough, George Swarbrick, Yvon Labre, Steve Cardwell, Rick Kessell and Brian McKenzie. Highlights include custom-shortened cuffs and the alternate's "A" up on the chest. Game wear is evident with scuffs at the arms and five stitched team repairs. A washed out General Athletic tag is sewn into the lower side hem. These are drying up in the hobby as collectors sock them away for keeps.
