Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011

Hard-to-find first year NHL Edmonton Oilers uniform by Maska is a blue knit worn by Don Murdoch. Collar tagging is no longer present but the Maska logo is embroidered onto the rear hem. This example was originally a number 16 uniform worn by Bobby Schmautz and was re-numbered 47 for Murdoch. Best is the Edmonton 75th Anniversary patch on the shoulder. Game wear is easy to spot with at least 7 team repairs to go along with a number of unrepaired holes. Stick marks and board burns litter the lower front and sleeves and both arms display small areas of red board paint transfer. We would like to believe some of that wear was picked up rubbing elbows with a young Wayne Gretzky.
