Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
The entire roster of the 1983-84 Stanley Cup champion Edmonton Oilers is represented in this comprehensive collection of 21 game-used sticks. What a team! One of the highlights of this once-in-a-lifetime gathering is a game-used Wayne Gretzky Titan TPM2020. This Great One gamer from the 1988-89 season has "W. Gretzky" stamped on the front of the shaft, with factory pattern code "1-002" and date code "042689" stamped low on the back of the shaft. It retains Wayne's original black foam Gripper knob, though the tape has been removed from the blade. Also featured are a Sher-Wood 5030 used by Mark Messier and another 5030 from blueliner Paul Coffey, both signed "To Rick", as are sticks used by Glenn Anderson, Kevin Lowe, Andy Moog, Jari Kurri and Grant Fuhr (Grant's Sher-Wood goal stick has some damage at the toe with more splintered wood at the paddle). Thirteen additional gamers used by Semenko, Gregg, Pouzar, Melnyk, Jackson, Fogolin, Hughes, Chartraw, Lumley, McClelland, Lindstrom, Huddy and Linseman complete this amazing collection of the Oilers' first Stanley Cup champs. In average collectible condition, a number of these wooden wonders were used a year prior to the 1984 Cup win and a few were used the season after. Most display nice game use and personalized autographs. Other than the Gretzky stick, which is not signed, the 20 other sticks in this lot were originally from the personal collection of Rick "The Stick" Elaschuk.
