Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Capturing their fifth Stanley Cup over the short span of seven years, the Edmonton Oilers of the 1980s ensured that they would forever be regarded as a hockey dynasty. The players and management of the 1989-90 Championship team were forced to make room in their trophy cases for yet another of these silver plate replicas of Lord Stanley's Cup. This example was obtained originally from Oilers' owner Peter Pocklington back in the early 2000s and was either presented to him or his father Basil by the National Hockey League in a tradition dating back to 1957. Green felt covers the bottom of the black wood base, with the Boffey manufacturer's decal. In excellent condition with light toning in areas. Comes with a letter of authenticity signed by Peter Pocklington on his personal stationery.
