Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Striping and number placement dates this well-worn and vintage early-Sixties Chicago Black Hawks game jersey to the 1962-63 season. Voted by many as the most attractive hockey uniform of all time, the red durene knit sports that classic Indian-head logo on the chest in intricately-embroidered chain stitch with the familiar "crossed tommies" design at each shoulder. Obvious evidence of a number change and the shirt displays tons of repairs, so we surmise it was recycled at a later date to be one used by players who were called up during the season and/or sent to an affiliate minor team. A tattered Olympic Sporting Goods tag is hanging in the collar with a rolled-up size 48 label below. The jersey displays unrepaired holes and material runs and we have found at least 15 team repairs. A great old Original Six sweater!
