Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011

Ultra-intriguing one-of-a-kind letter was written by Tim Horton at the end of his first season with the Maple Leafs and sent to Toronto boss Conn Smythe. Dated March 28, 1953, the two-page letter asks Smythe to write a letter to a real estate office stating Horton's salary, so that he can be approved to buy a house in Toronto's east end. Horton also asks Smythe's opinion on the housing project before inking his full name at the bottom of page 2. A letter from Smythe's secretary reads in part "He does not think you should buy the house this way, but should come back here and drop in and see him about it." Cool oddball stuff for a Horton shrine!
