Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
From early in Patrick Roy's career in Montreal comes this Sher-Wood stick, salvaged after being no longer of use. As you'll see, the end of the blade broke off and black tape was wrapped around the shaft, one side of which had split/splintered. "ROY" and "33" are indeed stamped on the shaft, below Roy's original knob tape job, done in white, with original white tape also on the blade. After backstopping the Sherbrooke Canadiens to the Calder Cup in the spring of 1985, he propelled Montreal to a Stanley Cup triumph a year later and the hockey world really began to take notice of the budding superstar!
