Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
The magnificent artwork of the late great Dewitt "Tex" Coulter should not need any introduction, but if you need inspiration, take a look at this stunning portrait of hockey icon Maurice Richard. Coulter, who died in 2007 at age 83, was an all-star football lineman with the New York Giants and Montreal Alouettes and later became artistic director of the "Hockey Blueline" magazine. He would often present his subjects with his life-like masterpieces. We never tire of handling these one-of-a-kind beauties. Done on canvas board, measuring approximately 16" by 21" and in its original wooden frame, the treasure will come with a photo of Richard holding it up with Kenny Reardon. Richard's written name in faint white is just below the image. In the Richard family's possession for over half a century, the stirring one-of-one will be accompanied by an LOA from the family.
