Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Wonderful opportunity here to score one of the hobby's most coveted game programs with this gorgeous example from the famous Howie Morenz memorial game, played November 2, 1937. A team of Montreal Canadiens and Maroons skated against a team of all-stars from the rest of the NHL, with the proceeds (some $20,000) going to the family of the iconic star who had died the previous March. The Montrealers scored three late goals to make it close, but the All-Stars hung on for a 6-5 win. Solid EX 56-page program has no unsightly creases, includes that classic colorized image of Howie on the cover, recollections of the legend, and a photo of Morenz and Howie Jr. on the back cover.
