Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Magnificent painting was presented to Vincent Damphousse by the San Jose Sharks to commemorate his 1,000th regular season point. The Sharks gave Vinny this original 30" x 40" oil-on-canvas painting by artist Peter Winter in an on-ice presentation after he became the 58th NHL player to reach the milestone on October 14, 2000. Vinny is featured in action with the Sharks in the middle, surrounded by four smaller images from throughout his career also depicting him with Toronto and Edmonton, as well as celebrating his 1993 Stanley Cup win with Montreal. Vinny has added his #25 to his big and bold black marker signature on the reverse, which also has the artist's name printed in capital letters along with the year 2000. Winter has signed in the lower right corner of the painting, which is stretched over a wood frame with braced corners. A couple of light indentations are clear to see on the reverse of the canvas, though they are much less apparent viewed from the front. Comes with Vincent Damphousse's signed LOA.
