Extra-special is this gold medal, won by Vaclav Nedomansky as he led Czechoslovakia to its first World Championship in 23 years, thus ending the Soviets' nine-year streak. Nedomansky totaled nine goals and six assists in nine tournament games. After losing the gold medal game to the Soviets at that year's Olympics in Sapporo, the Czechs posted a 9-0-1 record at the worlds, tying the Soviets 3-3 and then later beating them 3-2, sending the hometown fans in Prague into hysterics! Classic IIHF design on this golden treasure is joined by "1972" and the maker's "Huguenin" name. Preserved in spectacular like-new condition, the stunning medal was recently obtained directly from Vaclav Nedomansky, with an LOA to be included. Outstanding!
