Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010

Splendid eye-catching glimmer of gold and diamonds is what Hall-of-Famer Norm Ullman received some years after having been inducted into the hockey shrine in 1982. Honoured members received "update" rings after the Hall moved to its current location in downtown Toronto. An image of a hockey player (even looks a bit like Norm!) is skating with a diamond for a puck, is surrounded by the words "Hockey Hall of Fame Member" and is featured on the top of this regal ring. Manufactured in 10K white gold, one shank includes a raised image of the Hall of Fame's "new" logo, with "N. Ullman" on a banner above and his "1982" induction year below. The opposing shank has a raised image of the actual HOF building in Toronto and is inscribed "Hockey Hall of Fame est. 1943". Commemorating a career that started in Edmonton (with the junior Oil Kings) and ended in the same city (with the WHA Oilers), the smashing ring is stamped "10K" on the interior of the size 8 band and is in gorgeous like-new condition. A wonderful, at times underrated, two-way center, Ullman is said to have been a master of the give-and-go during his 20-year NHL career which included 490 regular season goals, along with another 47 during his two years in the WHA. Obtained directly from Norm Ullman, this unique piece will come with his signed letter of authenticity. Superb!
