Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
From the locker room of the most famous pro basketball franchise comes this well-worn Boston Celtics uniform, donned by defensive specialist Don Chaney, the team's first round draft pick (12th overall) in 1968. Chaney helped Boston to the NBA championship in his rookie season ('69) and again in ('74). The University of Houston grad was an NBA All-Defensive second team all-star on five occasions and is the only Celtic to play with both Bill Russell and Larry Bird! As you can see, the tackle twill numbers, both front and back, are worn through in places here, as are some of the letters on the stretchy knit jersey. Tagging in the shorts is similar, but a legible size tag indicates "36".
