Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Absolutely shocking is the way we describe the condition of these darling little bobbing head dolls, produced in the early-1960s and referred to as the "high skates" version. Not much is perfect in life but these are close and we believe you'd be hard-pressed to find a complete set in better condition. The colors are bright and vivid and we cannot spot a single hairline crack on any of these wonderful NHL mascots, which are, as you likely know, prone to cracking at the base of the heads. A couple of tiny chips at the base of the Red Wings nodder are the only mentionable flaws. Standing six inches tall and in their original boxes which each have a label affixed that read "a tex coulter product", with "Japan" in the lower corner, the nodders have their original gloss that surely has never seen the light of day. A truly dazzling ensemble that will have you nodding your head from side to side in amazement!
