Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
A splendid piece of Russian hockey history is this Koho 221 model stick that was autographed by the Soviet Union team that captured the gold medal at the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. The Russians were not about to be upset like in the previous Olympics in Lake Placid and showed their dominence by outscoring the opposition 42-5 in the preliminary round and 16-1 in the medal round, shutting out Canada (4-0) and Czechoslovakia (2-0) in their last two games. Goaltender Vladislav Tretiak's bold black marker autograph is among the highlights here and is joined by those of fellow Hall-of-Famers Slava Fetisov and Igor Larionov. Among the 20 others are Makarov, Krutov, Kasatonov, Myshkin, Starikov and deceased players Stelnov and Drozdetsky. Superb, difficult-to-hope-for-nicer autographs make for an outstanding piece.
