Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010

"Henderson takes a wild stab at it?" - you know the rest of the story. With Soviet goalie Vladislav Tretiak down and out on his back, Paul Henderson scored "The Goal" that gave Team Canada the margin of victory in the 1972 Summit Series. Henderson has signed in black marker on the front of a superb replica Team Canadad 1972 jersey by Starter that recalls "The Series of the Century". The air-knit jersey is size XL and has "Canada" sewn across the back in red tackle twill letters. The original tagging - which includes a team photo of the NHL stars and a certificate of authenticity - are still attached to the sweater which was originally obtained from the personal collection of Rick Vaive and comes with his signed letter of authenticity. A gorgeous size XXL CCM replica of Tretiak's Soviet national team jersey features his surname, #20 and the U.S.S.R.'s Russian language "CCCP" sewn on in white twill. Fantastic lot conjures up vivid memories of hockey's greatest international showdown.
