Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Early goalie mask was manufactured and sold by Delbert Louch in the 1950s. This crude yet innovative plexi-glass shield comes with its original packaging box from D.G. Louch of St. Mary's, Ontario. The model of Louch mask offered here is pictured in the pages of a vintage winter sporting goods catalogue from Western Canada that accompanies this lot. Listed under the heading "Louch's Shatterproof Perspex Goalie Face Masks", the model offered here is the 4 1/2" tall wraparound clear shield advertised under "Nose and Eyeglass Guards", as opposed to the larger "Full Face Masks" models. Red leather straps are attached to foam rubber padding at each temple. Vintage goalie mask remains in excellent-plus condition with a fully intact box.
