Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010

Dandy ensemble of vintage skates go way back to the days of folks strapping their boots onto wooden sections, with the straps no longer present on the oldest pair here. They feature a small serrated section along the front of the blade to help one slow down! The black leather boots meanwhile have bladed attached with a rather sophisticated screw system, with the "key" to tighten/loosen the blades still present. Engraved on one side of each blade is "Stahl", with "E. Engels - Remshied" and "Normal Courrier" on the other. Boots are size 8-9. Completing things is a set of blades with "Merkur" inscribed on each and featuring another intriguing screw-fastening apparatus, along with serrated tips. Nifty group for an antique skate shrine.
