Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Great lot consists of a pair of game used sticks wielded by St. Louis Blues great Garry Unger and Hall-of-Famer Marcel Dionne. Unger' name and #7 are stamped on the front of the shaft of his Sher-Wood from the early-1970s. Great use on this fully intact gamer with a now-bare blade which has Garry' original tape job on the butt end and "Giesler-Jorgen Sportings Goods Co., Clayton, Mo." stamped on the shaft. Dionne' CCM PPM 101 has a "31 Mars 1980" factory stamp, dating the stick to the end of the 1979-80 season when the Hall of Fame center claimed the Art Ross Trophy. Dionne tied Wayne Gretzky for the league lead with 137 points, and beat out the Great One for the leading scorer award by virtue of having scored more goals, 53 to 51. The blade of Dionne' gamer is also bare and his butt end tape job remains, though it has unraveled along the bottom.
