Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010

Life was pretty good for Craig Simpson in 1987-88. He began the season wearing this Pittsburgh Penguins jersey on a team that featured superstar Mario Lemieux, fresh from his Canada Cup heroics. Simpson had 26 points - including 13 goals - in 21 games when he was traded to Edmonton in the multi-player deal that brought Hall of Fame defenceman Paul Coffey to Pittsburgh. Now playing for Wayne Gretzky's Oilers, Simpson scored 43 goals on a line with Mark Messier and Glenn Anderson for a career-high 56-goal season. Offered here is Simpson's hammered Penguins black mesh road gamer featuring an "Air-Knit" fly tag in the neck, an intact fight strap, and an embroidered CCM logo on the right rear tail. Penguins logo is screened on the front and #18 in vinyl is heat-pressed onto the back and both shoulders. "Simpson" is spelled out in yellow vinyl letters heat-pressed onto a black nameplate. Slash marks and paint transfer dot both sleeves and the front tail.
