Stunning game worn #10 Montreal Canadiens wool sweater is likely the first Habs jersey ever worn by top draft pick and future Hall-of-Famer Guy Lafleur. The Flower has added his #10 to his black marker signature on the top of the white twill "0" in the white-and-blue twill numbers sewn on the back of this vintage tie-neck Canadiens sweater. This recycled beauty was worn by Guy during the team's training camp prior to the 1971-72 season, mere months after the Canadiens selected Lafleur first overall in the NHL draft ahead of Marcel Dionne. Guy is pictured wearing the exact same style of sweater, with a dead-on match on the placement of the sewn-on CH crest, in a training camp photo between Yvan Cournoyer and Frank Mahovlich. In fact, the Big M was the last Canadiens player to wear #10 prior to Lafleur. Mahovlich wore the number for his first game with Montreal in Minnesota after he was acquired from Detroit the previous season because the Canadiens did not have a #27 sweater in the set of red road jerseys they were traveling with. The tie neck lace is even absent in the training camp photo of Lafleur with those oh-so-cool sideburns. This classic wool Habs sweater was likely originally worn by defenceman Ted Harris in the late-1960s and recycled for training camp. Great game wear is apparent in the four vintage team repairs on the lower right front, as well as a pair on each sleeve. Washed out fly tag inside the lower left seam is the only remaining tagging on this wool original that exhibits extensive pilling throughout, yet retains remarkably bright red and blue colors. A letter of authenticity accompanies this remarkable Guy Lafleur signed rookie-era Montreal Canadiens game worn jersey.
