Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Scarce second-year styling worn by team scoring leader Serge Bernier while with the World Hockey Association's Quebec Nordiques in 1973-74. Bernier recorded 37 goals and 49 assists to top the scoring charts this year and would go on to lead the Nords again the following season with 122 points, a solid performance by any standard. All-original, right down to the knit nameplate and the alternate's letter "A" adorning the upper chest. The neck holds the old-style Maska tag in black and gold and Serge's number 21 appears on the sleeves in single-layer tackle twill and again on the back, this time in double-layers of blue on red. Visible game wear on this v-neck durene with a number of good stick marks and snags punctuated by a pair of stitched team repairs. Some fading of the crest and numbers is certainly from game use and regular washing and does not detract from this attractive example.
