Wondrous wool uniform worn by Hall-of-Famer Frank Nighbor back in 1927-28. Nighbor, the "Pembroke Peach", was one of the most uniquely talented athletes ever to play professional hockey, becoming the very first recipient of the Lady Byng Trophy in 1925 and also the first to be awarded the Hart Trophy after the 1923-24 campaign. Frank would go on to an astonishing career with the Vancouver Millionaires and Ottawa Senators including four Stanley Cup victories before being honored by his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1947. A fantastic felt and chain-stitch shield at the chest proclaims "Worlds Champs 1926-27", boasting to the team's Stanley Cup victory the previous season. The sweater features a ribbed neck with identical material at the cuffs and is crafted in alternating stripes of black, red and cream wool. The left arm displays a single stitched repair and three more can be found on the opposite sleeve including a six-inch long fix running down from the elbow. Eight more examples of the sewers skills can be found on the front, some done in thread and others darned with wool. Four additional repairs appear on the backside of the uniform including a larger example near the armpit. A handful of smaller holes have not been fixed and a small rust colored stain can be found centered on the chest. This woolen treasure appeared in the collecting hobby about 15 years ago when Nighbor's son sold two of his father's Ottawa sweaters, this one included. To this day, the two jerseys are the only vintage Ottawa Senators uniforms that have made it into the hands of collectors. A significant offering, destined to be the showpiece in an upper echelon collection. Will come with a letter of authenticity.
