Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Joyous framed photo for Montreal Canadiens fans is signed by Jean Beliveau, who is pictured receiving congratulations from Habs icon Maurice “Rocket” Richard shortly after Big Jean became the first recipient of the newly minted Conn Smythe Trophy in 1965. Richard was the Canadiens’ captain for the last four of the team’s record five straight Stanley Cups in the late 1950s. The Rocket was on hand as a team executive to shake hands with Beliveau in the Canadiens’ dressing room after le Gros Bill led the 1964-65 edition of the Habs to a seven-game win over Chicago in the final to bring the Cup back to Montreal. Beliveau has added “Thanks Maurice” to his silver sharpie autograph on this glorious 14” x 11” modern print of this classic scene from the Canadiens’ dressing room which is displayed in a black matte with white accents within a 24” x 18” black frame. A plaque at the bottom of the framed photo reads “#4 Jean Beliveau, Montreal Canadiens” and Habs fans will add “Thanks Jean!” to their sentiments when gazing upon this remarkable signed display.
