Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010

Young Swedish center Nicklas Backstrom is living up to his early promise three years into his NHL career with the Washington Capitals. Chosen fourth overall by Washington in the 2006 draft, Backstrom finished as runner-up to Chicago's Patrick Kane in Calder Trophy voting as a rookie in 2007-08. Backstrom followed that up with 88 points in 82 games with Washington in 2008-09, with a number of his 66 assists helping set up Russian superstar Alexander Ovechkin. Offered here is a gorgeous red Capitals Reebok jersey autographed by Backstrom, who has signed in blue sharpie on the middle of the "9" in his white-and-navy twill #19 sewn on the back. A Channel Sports Inc. holofoil has also been affixed to the same number on the back of this size XL jersey, which still has the Reebok and NHL Authentic tags attached to the left sleeve.
