Truly historic letter to Dit Clapper was signed by members of the 1946-47 Boston Bruins on the date of his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. This original letter is dated "Feb. 12, 1947" - Dit Clapper Night at the Boston Garden - and was handwritten and signed by Hall of Fame goalie Frank Brimsek, the first of 20 members of the Bruins who have signed this letter which accompanied a gift from the Bruins to their player-coach. Clapper, the first and only active player ever to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, appeared in his final six games that season to become the first NHLer to play 20 seasons. This remarkable letter reads, "To You Dit, A Grand Fellow, At a time like this, words are meaningless; so, may this camera, in a small way, show our appreciation of all you are, and have meant, to hockey in general; to the Bruins and Boston in particular. From Your Unattentive Subjects" signed by Brimsek, along with Crawford, Henderson, Guidolin, Barry, Smith, Dumart (who has signed "Porky" Dumart), Moore, Gallinger, McGill, Cowley, Schmidt, Randall, Flaman, Egan, Carveth, Marquess, Bauer and Green. Vintage 8 1/2" x 11" letter was originally folded in thirds, both horizontally and vertically, and subsequently mounted on pressboard. An incredible find for hockey historians and autograph collectors!
