Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Fantastic opportunity here for collectors of Canadian non-sport issues with these seldom-seen (and rarely in such quantity!) cards produced by Parkhurst and featuring comic strip characters of the day. The same size as '51-52 Parkie hockey cards, these ones have "See you in The Star Weekly every week!" on the backs. Majority of cards are in nice crease-free EX or VG-EX condition, with only two heavily creased cards out of 37. We suspect a 40-card set, with numbers 27, 37 and 40 not present. Dick Tracy and Popeye characters are the most recognizeable. Also thrown into the lot are (29) license plate cards from Topps' 1950 set. Lesser conditions (G, G-VG, VG) with wear on the black borders. Numbers are 3, 4, 6, 8-14, 16-19, 28, 33, 38, 40, 43, 45, 52, 54, 56, 57, 59, 62, 64 and 67-69.
