Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Minor leaguers who played in the International League in the early-1950s are featured in these two lots, the highlight being the first cardboard appearance of future acting star Chuck Connors. The Montreal Royals' first baseman's card #2 in the World Wide Gum Big League Stars set has the appearance of a G-VG card, with no unsightly creases through the image of the smiling Connors, but is technically lower due to "$2,000" in pen on the otherwise blank back. Sixteen of the other 27 cards have similar pen markings, with the lot otherwise averaging G. Included are #s 1-Bridges, 3-13, 15, 18, 21, 24-Gionfriddo, 26-King, 27-30, 34-36, 38, 44, 46. A dozen '52 Parkhurst cards are considerably nicer at VG-EX and EX and include #s 2, 10, 13, 14, 18(2), 19, 55, 69, 73, 79 and 80.
