Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Nice find of 1951-52 Parkhurst cards is without the "biggies" but includes dozens of "doubles" and provides numerous opportunities. Not present are the Howe, Rocket, Sawchuk and Geoffrion rookie cards, as well as 75-Broda, but the near set of 100 includes approximately half in crease-free VG-EX, EX, EX+ and EX-MT cards, with some possibly attaining NRMT status. Included notables are #s 2-Bouchard, 7-Johnson, 26-Quackenbush, 29-Dumart, 47-Lumley, 57-Gadsby, 48-Bentley, 49-Mosienko, 55-Kelly, 68-Pronovost, 72-Meeker, 80-Flaman and 94-Stanley. Keys are as follows: 1-Lach (G-VG), 10-Harvey (VG), 15-McNeil (VG+), 52-Winning goal ("SET" in pen on the back, otherwise EX), 56-Lindsay (G, with "16" in pen on back), 63-Delvecchio (VG) and 86-Kennedy (G). Approximately half of the first 100 are either G-VG or VG, with very few "dogs" present. The second group of 68 (duplicates) is typically weaker than the aforementioned near set, and includes RCs of Olmstead, McNeil, Quackenbush, Gadsby, Lumley, Delvecchio, Pronovost, Meeker and Stanley, with all in the VG range. From the always-popular set that launched the modern era of hockey card collecting, these classics will continue to stand the test of time.
