Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Forever in demand are C57 cards, with these two looking to fill a hole in a pre-war collection. Card #45 features Hall-of-Famer Didier Pitre, the first player signed by Jack Laviolette when he formed the Montreal Canadiens. The idol of French-Canadian hockey followers of the day, Pitre is erroneously listed with Quebec, a team he never played for, although he is pictured in his Canadiens sweater. Encapsulated and graded VG 3 by PSA, it is joined by a PSA "Good 2" card (#24) of James Gardiner of New Westminster.
