Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010

Superb vintage official NHL document is what George Armstrong and the Toronto Maple Leafs signed following the 1955-56 season. Agreed upon on April 4th and calling for "Chief" to earn $9500 for the '56-57 campaign, it features Armstrong's signature in blue ballpoint and a bold blue fountain pen sig of Leafs' general manager Hap Day on the back, while NHL president Clarence Campbell's nice flowing fountain pen signature graces the front. An accompanying March 26th, 1957 memo regarding a $500 bonus reads in part "If in Mr. Day's opinion he is as valuable to the team as he was during the 1955-56 season." And concludes, "Mr. Day said he would certainly have to recommend that Armstrong receive this bonus." Fascinating piece for a Leafs/contract collection.
