Intriguing National Hockey League Standard Player's Contract is Henri Richard's two-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens for the 1960-61 and 1961-62 campaigns. This one-page, two-sided document reveals that the Pocket Rocket earned a base salary of $20,000 for each of the two seasons with a bonus clause that paid the All-Star center $100 for "every point he makes over sixty." Richard cashed in an extra $800 in the first year of the deal when he posted 68 points in 70 games, but he fell short the following season when he recorded 50 points as injuries limited him to 54 games. This original official player's contract is signed on the front in fountain pen by NHL president Clarence Campbell, with an October 6, 1960 central registry date stamp. The reverse includes nice bold flowing blue ballpoint signatures of Frank Selke and Henri Richard, with Habs secretary Lee Dillon signing twice as witness. Dated September 21st, 1960, the document is thus signed by three Hall-of-Famers, a tempting offering for HOF/Canadiens/contract collectors.
