Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Dazzling gold tribute ring was presented to defenceman Jean Gauthier to commemorate his Stanley Cup win as a member of the 1964-65 Montreal Canadiens. Gauthier did not play a regular season game and only played twice in the playoffs, though both of his appearances were in the seven-game win over Chicago in the final and that was enough to get his name on the coveted chalice. This glorious championship ring features a miniature Cup depicted in raised gold on a white gold tableau in which twenty-two cubic zirconias are set. "Montreal" appears above and "Canadiens" below while four cubic zirconias are at each side. "Coupe Stanley Cup Champions" appears in raised gold on the right shank with "64-65" engraved on a banner and an image of the exterior of the Montreal Forum. A colorful enamel Canadiens logo on the left shank has "Gauthier" above and his number "24" below. Size 10 ring was recently produced by Jostens in 10-karat gold with all proper markings on the interior band. A great addition to your Canadiens/Stanley Cup collection.
