Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Original pencil signatures of Bill Durnan, Toe Blake and Maurice Richard are featured on this remarkable ad-hoc autograph sheet signed by 9 members of the 1943-44 Stanley Cup champions Montreal Canadiens. A classic example of an enterprising autograph collector, these two vintage blank receipts from a Montreal tailor's shop were used to gather the signatures of 9 members of this great Habs team. Cude, Durnan, Bouchard, Blake, Heffernan, McMahon, Richard and Mosdell have signed in order on the 4 1/2" x 4" receipt taped onto the left side of a 5" x 9" cut scrapbook page with photos of early-1930s Habs stars on the reverse. The left and right edges of the sheet have their original tape, which runs through the far end of the "B" in Durnan's first name and the "M" in Richard's. Lamoureux has signed along with "Jacques Moisant" across a second receipt glued to the right side. A vintage 5" x 10" magazine photo of the 1943-44 Canadiens is included.
