Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
When it comes to the Boston Bruins, there is only one play known as "The Goal", Bobby Orr's remarkable Stanley Cup-clinching overtime goal against the St. Louis Blues in the spring of 1970. Offered here is a beautifully framed 16" x 20" print of the iconic shot of Orr soaring through the air when he was upended after putting the puck past Hall of Fame goalie Glenn Hall to give the Bruins their first Cup since 1941. Bobby has added #4 to his blue sharpie signature on the photo and a plaque at the bottom of the 25" x 27" frame within the black and white double matte reads "Bobby Orr, Boston Bruins, Stanley Cup Champion, May 10, 1970". A Great North Road hologram sticker from Bobby's company appears on the photo, though the frame is not accompanied by a certificate.
