Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Part of the Swedish invasion of Winnipeg in the mid-1970s, rookie Willy Lindstrom wore this white mesh jersey when the Jets won their first WHA title in 1976. Lindstrom contributed 59 points during the 1975-76 regular season and added 15 more in the playoffs, including 9 goals, as the Jets swept Houston in four straight to claim their first Avco World Trophy. Harv-Al Knit manufacturer's tagging remains in the neck, including a size "L" fly tag. Remarkable chain-stitching is featured on the round blue and red team crest sewn on the front, with "Jets" in white thread, "Winnipeg" in red and the outline of a jet done in "blue" on a red twill circle. Lindstrom's surname is screened onto a white airknit nameplate. The original 1976 Olympic patch was removed from the shoulder. Really nice game wear is revealed with stick marks on the front hem left sleeve and a team repair on the right sleeve. Soiling around the cuffs could be vintage dried champagne! Willy Lindstrom's signed letter of authenticity will accompany this historic WHA championship gamer.
