Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Although they finished third in the '78-79 regular season, the Winnipeg Jets successfully defended their Avco Cup championships in the playoffs, sweeping the Nordiques before taking care of Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers in a 6-game final in the WHA`s final season. For the third time in four years, members of the Jets received miniature replicas of the Avco World Trophy. Willy Lindstrom's personal memento features his name engraved on a metal plaque below the name of the trophy while the entire Jets roster appears on a plaque on the opposite side. The trophy stands just under 13" high and is topped off by a silver plated bowl which sits atop a globe suspended in clear Lucite. Produced by Balfour, the award is in superb excellent condition with a pair of small dent on the top bowl upper rim to be noted. Willy Lindstrom will sign a LOA that will be included with this magnificent piece of WHA history.
