Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010

Classic silver plate was presented to Hall of Fame center Norm Ullman in recognition of the 1956-57 Detroit Red Wings' regular season title. After seeing their NHL record league championship run ended at seven seasons one year earlier by Montreal, the Red Wings were back on top with a 38-20-12 mark for 88 points, six ahead of the Canadiens. Ullman finished with 16 goals and 52 points in 64 games, giving Detroit three in the Top 10 in scoring, including Art Ross winner Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay, who finished 1-2 overall. "NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE, LEAGUE CHAMPIONS, 1956-1957, DETROIT HOCKEY CLUB INC., NORMAN ULLMAN" is engraved on the face of the dish which features a nicely detailed outer edge. "Heritage, 1947 Rogers Bros" is stamped on the back of the dish along with the "I S" symbol. Glue residue is all that remains of an original oval label sticker. This fantastic piece of Detroit Red Wings history comes from Norm Ullman's personal collection and it will be accompanied by his signed letter of authenticity.
