This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Match set of mitts worn by Lennox Lewis during the 1987 Pan American Games held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lewis won gold for Canada at the 1988 Olympic Games as an amateur and as a professional boxer he would rise to the title of undisputed World Heavyweight Champion. These gloves were worn back in 1987 during the semi-final round as Lennox moved on to become Super Heavyweight Silver Medalist at the Pan American Games, losing to Jorge Luis Gonzalez of Cuba in the final. One glove lists the details of the "semi-final, second-round KO" bout in blue ink while the other is signed "To Dave, Best Wishes, Lennox Lewis". Obtained directly from Lewis by our consignor, Dave Stubbs, a noted sports columnist with the Montreal Gazette. Will come with a letter of authenticity.
