Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
This magnificent vintage silver cup trophy was awarded by the Montreal Jockey Club on the occasion of the 100th anniversary Queen's Plate at Blue Bonnets Course in 1936. Montreal Canadiens owners Joseph Cattarinich, Leo Dandurand and Louis Letourneau acquired the Blue Bonnets horse racing track in 1932 and Cattarinich was its president when this regal cup was presented four years later. The silver trophy has a removable lid and stands approximately 22" tall overall. The cup has "100th Anniversary, Queen's Plate at Blue Bonnets Course, Montreal Jockey Club, 1936" engraved prominently on its face between the two detailed handles attached to each side. The silver remains in excellent condition with a few dings to note. Otherwise, an outstanding vintage trophy from the great history of horse racing in Montreal that comes along with an original grandstand Montreal Jockey Club ticket.
