Sensational array here of big (10 1/2" by 16 3/4") colorized photos which appeared each Saturday in Montreal's La Presse newspaper, starting in the late-1920s and running through to the mid-'30s, includes hockey, baseball and boxing stars of the day, along with personalities from several other sports. Hockey highlights among 53 pictures are the images of Primeau, Stewart, the Boucher's, Vezina, Shore, Hainsworth, Siebert, the Conachers, Clancy, Dutton, Bun Cook, Thompson, Day, Jackson, Smith, Benedict, Joliat, the Manthas, Morenz, Gardiner. Baseball photos (21) is highlighted by Babe Ruth, Lefty Grove, Hack Wilson and a group shot of the 1929 Philadelphia Athletics along with Montreal Royals and other mostly minor leaguers. The boxing lot (27) features Gene Tunney, Max Schmelling, Tommy Loughran and Max Baer. Golf photos (4) include Gene Sarazen. Wrestling (7) and 44 photos from the world of tennis, figure skating, skiing, auto, horse and bicycle racing, snow-shoeing, bobsledding and a few others round-up this collection.
