Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009

Talk about a treasure, this black Sherwood goalie stick was used by Martin Brodeur during his 1993-94 rookie season, when he won the Calder Trophy in his first full year with the New Jersey Devils. The solid black wood goalie stick has two silver foil tape bands with the NHL's shield and black and orange colors. The stick is clearly from the beginning of his rookie campaign with New Jersey in 1993-94 as "Brodeur 1" is stamped on the shaft of the model PMP G 530 stick representing the sweater number the future Hall of Famer wore in the minors with the Utica Devils the previous season. The four-time Vezina Trophy winner added a white marker signature to the chewed up black tape on the blade when he later signed the stick at Simon Gagne's golf tournament with his familiar #30. This historic gamer exhibits fantastic use by the goalie who would go on to break Patrick Roy's all-time wins record in 2008-09.
