Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Fantastic Greg Harrison-made mask was worn by Gilles Meloche and was once on display at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Bearing the hall's numbered inventory sticker on the padless interior, the mask features combination leather and elastic sweat-stained straps and that cool Barons logo. There's evidence of Meloche's more familiar striped mask design beneath the white paint. After several rough years in California with the Seals, Meloche's job remained a tough one when the franchise moved to Cleveland. Gilles carried most of the load, appearing in 105 games during the '76-77 and '77-78 seasons. Wonderful piece of history of a long gone team, the mask was originally part of the Richard Curry collection and obtained from Greg Harrison.
