Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Leo Dandurand is best known in hockey circles for having been one of the three men who bought the Montreal Canadiens in 1921 and for building them into the "Flying Frenchmen" featuring many of the top players of the era. Also involved in the promotion and progress of baseball and football in Montreal, Dandurand has signed in large and flowing fountain pen ink at the conclusion of this 1-page letter, in French, on Montreal Canadiens letterhead. Dandurand is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and passed away only a year after his induction, in 1964. His signature in any form, let alone a signed document, rarely surfaces.
