Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
The classic little cardboard beauties that started things off close to one hundred years ago for hockey card collectors are offered here in professionally graded form, presenting serious hobbyists with a wonderful opportunity. The average grade is VG, with 22 of the 36 encapsulated cards receiving "VG 3" status from the SGC grading company. Highlighting the 22 are key cards of Art Ross, (both numbers 8 and 12), 15-Cyclone Taylor and 26-Lester Patrick, with other notables being #2-Lesueur, 3-Roberts, 7-Walsh, 10-Hyland, 14-Dunderdale, 22-Hern and 23-Pitre. Completing the group of VG cards are #s 5, 6, 9, 11, 19, 24, 25, 31, 32, 34 and 35. Four cards that "scored" a grade higher at "VG/EX 4" are led by #28-Paddy Moran, the others being 13-Decary, 17-Stuart and 27-Lake. Another four cards came in at "Good 2"; 4-Holden, 16-Cattarinich, 20-Russell and 36-Lalonde. "Fair 1.5" cards total four and include 1-Frank Patrick, 18-Bawlf, 29-Toms and 33-Marshall, while two cards, 21-Laviolette and 30-Johnston, were slabbed "A Auth". For those who have yet to add this absolute prerequisite to an important hockey card set collection, this group deserves serious consideration.
