Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009

Calgary Flames defenseman Todd Simpson was issued this Team Canada jersey for the 1997 world championships. Simpson, who was making his first international appearance, played with the team right up to the beginning of the tournament. He was bumped from the active roster at the last moment when Chris Pronger was added to the squad that went on to claim Canada's second gold medal in four years in Helsinki. This fantastic white polyester Bauer gamer features Hockey Canada logos on both shoulders and part of a stylized Canadian flag along the bottom of the tail screened onto the jersey. Simpson's surname is spelled out in individual red twill letters sewn directly onto a white nameplate and his red and black double-twill #27 is sewn onto the back and both sleeves. A sensational red, white and black embroidery and twill Hockey Canada crest is sewn onto the front, size 58 and laundry instruction fly tags are sewn into the neck, and a fight strap remains intact. This glorious Canada jersey exhibits light game wear and is in great condition overall.
