Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
The familiar Team Canada uniforms from the historic 1972 Summit Series are seldom offered. Recent sales of game worn examples have reached record price levels. This striking team issued heavy knit sweater was an extra uniform and was not used in the Series. A stylistic maple leaf rises up from the waist in brilliant red. The number "31" is sewn onto the back beneath the word "CANADA" in red. The manufacturer's "Maska" tag is stitched into the collar beside remnants of another tag, long since removed. This uniform is part of a three-sweater set, intended to have been worn by a goaltender. Obviously, as the goalies on the roster did not wear #31, this sweater was not utilized. Here is a chance to add a 1972 Series sweater to your collection for many thousands less than the price of a game worn uniform. In near mint condition.
