Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Without a doubt, the red Chicago Black Hawks jersey is the most attractive hockey uniform of all time. This stunning tie-neck example, worn circa 1963 by Reg Fleming, boasts the intricately-embroidered Indian head logo on the chest with chain-stitched tomahawks at each shoulder. Neck tagging includes the Gunzo's Sports Center label with two smaller tags holding the washing instructions and indicating the size, 44. The original lace remains in the collar and Reg's number "6" appears in single-layer tackle twill on the back and upper arms. Game wear is evident with stick marks and material pulls with some staining at the elbow. We must note that the shirt displays five or six dozen smaller unrepaired holes, possibly from incorrect storage over the years. Still, an attractive and highly-sought-after style that will make a perfect display! Comes with a letter of provenance from a gentleman who remembers his father being gifted the shirt by Fleming. Reg played with the Hawks from 1960-61 through the 1963-64 season.
