This special black leather Roots bomber jacket was presented to members of the Canadian hockey teams following their gold medal win in 2002. A spectacular crest on the back features a black felt maple leaf superimposed on embroidered gold crossed hockey sticks. A smaller version of the maple leaf crest is sewn onto the left breast. Both crests have "GOLD MEDAL CHAMPIONS, Salt Lake City" embroidered in gold thread beneath them. A large black felt crest with a black and gold embroidered Canadian flag is sewn onto the right sleeve, with embroidered "Men’s Gold Medal Champions" and "Women’s Gold Medal Champions" banners. A second patch is sewn below honoring the 50th anniversary of Canada’s 1952 Olympic gold medal. The left sleeve has six black felt puck crests with gold thread embroidering for the years and host cities of six Canadian gold medals (1948 is curiously absent). A Roots 2002 Salt Lake City crest tag is sewn onto a square black leather patch with a size XXL fly tag attached to the bottom. The zipper-topped inside left breast pocket has "this jacket was made especially for Stewart Poirier" embroidered in gold thread and a consumer fly tag indicating that the black lining is 100 percent polyurethane remains sewn inside the left seam.
